Our History

In 2002 Dr. Gary Greven, a long-time area Psychologist, and Jim Evans began to discuss a long-time vision of Dr. Grevens; that being, a free-standing Christian counseling service for the Wabash Valley. An organizing committee was formed from area clergy and business leaders. Extensive interviews were conducted with area clergy and other church leaders regarding their opinions and ideas for Christian counseling. The key points were

1. Faithfulness to biblical principals
2. A trustworthy, well trained staff
3. Financial integrity

At that same time, Dr. Henry Edwards, M.D. was ending his 35 year medical practice at 518 S. 7th Street in Terre Haute. Frank & Janet Volkers learned of the project and through, Urban Connection, Inc. a not-for-profit foundation, made funding possible to purchase the property from Dr. & Mrs. Edwards. Remodeling of the facilities began in January 2003 and counseling services were launched in November 2003.
